Travellers on scuba diving in Seychelles enjoyed a fun weekend packed with activities at this year's SUBIOS Seychelles underwater festival which took place from 1st to 3rd October, and rated as a huge success by event organisers.

The 2010 SUBIOS underwater film and image festival took place on 1st to 3rd October and was deemed a huge success as travellers of all ages visited the island for scuba diving in Seychelles and numerous activities which took place over the fun-filled weekend.

The event took place on Beau Vallon beach on the island of Mahe in the Seychelles and was organised by the Seychelles Tourism Board to attract more travellers to enjoy scuba diving holidays in the picturesque region.

The weekend activities focused on scuba diving in Seychelles and featured a number of competitions, presentations, and film showings throughout the three days. Visitors enjoyed a fashion show themed "Seas of a thousand species", treasures hunts, open air discos, sand castle competitions, snorkelling, competitions for underwater photography and the annual SUBIOS Iron Man and Woman competition.

SUBIOS (Sub Indian Ocean Seychelles) Underwater Film and Image Festival was established in 1989 by diving enthusiast, Philippe Blanchard, and a special committee. The team put the festival together to showcase the beautiful diving sites around the Seychelles and the Indian Ocean.

Each year, the event attracts filmmakers, journalists, photographers, ecologists, scuba diving fans and famous speakers who educate visitors with presentations on the island's marine eco-systems and stunning scenery.

The Republic of Seychelles is an island nation situated in the western Indian Ocean with an archipelago of 115 islands. The islands are divided in to coral islands, raised coral islands, reef islands, and granite islands - all featuring breathtaking scenery and strict environmental legislation.

Visitors can relax within idyllic surroundings comprising lush green forests, white soft sandy beaches, warm crystal clear waters, granite boulders and the famous Aldabra Giant Tortoises.

Seychelles is home two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Vallee de Mai on Praslin Island, and the world's largest raised coral atoll, Aldraba.

Travellers will find plenty of activities during their time on the beautiful islands including snorkelling and diving, fishing, glass bottom boat tours, walks and trails around the coast or nature parks, island-hopping, and exploring the islands' historical sites and monuments.
