American socialite and media personality, Paris Hilton, has been spending Christmas away from home this year as she enjoys her scuba diving holidays with boyfriend, Cy Waits, and her family in Maui, Hawaii.
Paris Hilton opted to celebrate Christmas this year on the beautiful island of Maui in Hawaii as she enjoyed scuba diving holidays with her sister, parents and boyfriend.
The American heiress, socialite, model and media personality was spotted having fun in the ocean with her boyfriend over the Christmas period, choosing scuba diving in Maui over a traditional Christmas at home.
However, the sisters' scuba diving holidays did not get off to a good start after a four-inch serrated knife was found in a pocket onboard their plane at Los Angeles Airport and all passengers were evacuated.
Hilton tweeted: "We were about to take off then security made everyone deplane because they found a big knife on board the plane. Scary that it got on plane."
Despite the upheaval, the Hilton family was soon enjoying their Christmas in Maui exploring the local beautiful diving sites.
Paris tweeted: "Swimming in the ocean was so nice and peaceful till a huge wave knocked me under the water. So scary. :( I'm safely on shore now. :)."
On Christmas Eve, the 29-year-old star of The Simple Life TV show enjoyed dinner with her family and Casino owner boyfriend, Waits, at Spago.
On Twitter, Paris said: "Just finished a 2 hour work out. Feel great. Now on my way to family Christmas Eve dinner. Merry Christmas everyone!"
Maui is the second largest of the islands in Hawaii and is a popular destination for scuba diving, snorkeling and surfing activities. The island is made up of volcanoes, mountains, lush rainforests and beautiful beaches and coral reefs.
Though the island's coral reefs have suffered from extensive damage over recent years cause by tourism, climate change and pollution, the marine life is still thriving and scuba divers can catch sightings of dolphins, sea turtles, and an array of colourful tropical fish.
