Dahab Festival Offers Competitions and Diving for Tourists Enjoying Egypt Holidays

Travellers planning their Egypt holidays in Dahab this May will have the chance to explore the area’s beautiful diving sites and take part in an underwater photography competition during a week-long festival promoting Dahab.
Scuba diving enthusiasts planning Egypt holidays for this May should head to Dahab for a week-long festival focusing on the area’s breathtaking beauty including diving sites, marine life and the area’s conservation.
The festival will be taking place between 14th and 21st May 2011 and will include a land based photography competition and an underwater photography competition for visitors and locals.
The festival is being organised by the Dahab City Council and owners of water sports businesses in the area.
Keen photographers enjoying holidays in Egypt will be able to take part in the competitions which will focus on the beautiful landscapes of the Sinai Peninsula and the thriving underwater delights of diving sites within the warm Red Sea waters such as The Blue Hole, famously known as "The World's Most Dangerous Diving Site", and Canyon.
Travellers who are looking to enjoy some diving during their holidays to Egypt can take part in the free Freediving try dives during the festival and a Freediving competition will be held at the famous Blue Hole snorkelling and diving site.
Other activities which will be taking place throughout the week include taster sessions and competitions from windsurfing and kitesurfing instructors; free Nitrox courses and Raft Races in the Lighthouse Bay and Resort Lagoon; rock climbing; a Bedouin Market featuring tasters from the local culture; and live Jazz music and performances.
The Dahab festival will also host a Buoyancy Challenge which will promote conservation and protection of the area’s beautiful coral reefs, clean-up dives, and presentations on the behaviours and biology of local marine species.
Until recently Dahab had mostly been a popular destination for backpackers on Egypt holidays, but the city has added numerous upscale Egypt hotels and resorts to the breathtaking shores of the Sinai Peninsula including Ghazala Bay, Medina, and El-Qura Bay.
