Flying one of the youngest fleets of Boeing and Airbus aircraft, Richard Branson's most renowned creation, Virgin Atlantic, is the UK's second largest long haul airline and one of the most highly awarded in the industry, with just last year having achieved numerous travel awards including "Best Scheduled Airline - Long Haul", "Best Airline of the Year", "Best Business/ First Class" and "Best Economy Class airline".

One of the most well-known airlines in the world, Virgin Atlantic now operates regular flights from the UK (London Gatwick) to Havana, Cuba's capital city.

Flights depart on a Wednesday and Sunday from the UK, and as of November 2011, a Saturday departure too. Return flights from Havana to London operate on a Sunday, Wednesday, and as of November 2011, a Saturday too. The return flight in all cases will be overnight.

Virgin Atlantic operate Boeing and Airbus aircraft in 3 classes – Economy, Premium Economy, and the award winning business class – Virgin Upper Class. This last cabin must be seen to be believed – flat beds with duvets, pillows and pyjamas, a full service bar, and in-cabin a la carte dining. Your seat also has personal entertainment systems, and an ottoman, enabling you to have a table for two at 39,000 ft for dinner!

As with most long-haul airlines, food and drinks are fully included (with a varied menu adaptable to various diets and special dietary requirements, when requesting in advance), and for scuba divers, we at The Holiday Place have negotiated a special allowance of 32kgs for checked in baggage, exclusively for divers. The maximum weight of any single bag must not exceed 30kgs, however. Hand baggage is additional to this checked in weight allowance.
