Budding photographers will have the chance to showcase their work in the 2013 Ocean Views Photo Contest which is presented by DAN, Wetpixel.com and Nature's Best Photograph. Diving enthusiasts can submit images taken underwater during their scuba diving adventures for the chance to win week-long liveaboard holidays in Thailand and the Bahamas.
Diving enthusiasts are being encouraged to enter this year’s Ocean Views Photo Contest, hosted by DAN, Nature’s best Photograph and Wetpixel.com.
Divers can submit photographs captured during their scuba diving adventures in destinations all over the world for the chance to win liveaboard holidays in Thailand and the Bahamas in the Caribbean.
“Underwater photography is a smart and effective way to promote recreational scuba diving and keep divers active. DAN is pleased to be a part of this international program to recognise solid underwater imagery,” explained William Ziefle, the CEO of Divers Alert Network (DAN). “This contest continues to grow in awareness and participation based on the high quality and number of the entries.”
The deadline for all submissions in 18th December, 2012 and the competition is open to all professional and amateur photographers and youths under the age of 18. The winning photographs will be published in Nature’s Best Photography and Alert Diver magazines as well as in image galleries on Discovery.com and MSNBC.com.
The grand prizes include week-long scuba diving holidays on Aggressor and Dancer Fleets in Thailand and the Bahamas and several other prizes including scuba diving gear and diving trips are also available.
Photographers will have several categories to choose from including ocean weather, tropical and temperate reef ecosystems, sunken vessels, shallow shore and deep water environments and geological processes.
All images must be taken in the wild reflecting natural settings and behaviours of their chosen scuba diving destinations and entrants will be judged on technical quality, originality and composition among other aspects.
“We encourage everyone who’s taken a photo of which they’re proud to enter the contest,” commented Stephen Frink, the Publisher of Alert Diver Magazine and a renowned underwater photographer.
“We’re constantly amazed at the quality of photos taken, and they’re taken by photographers of all experience levels and equipment investment. If you’re an enthusiast in the world of underwater photography, we hope you’ll share your work via the Ocean Views Photo Contest.”
To submit images of their scuba diving adventures, entrants will have to pay a single fee of $25 and they can enter up to 20 different photographs across the different categories by 18th December, 2012.
