Scuba diving holidays in Guardalavaca

Guardalavaca sits on the South East coast of Cuba, and is approximately 50 minutes away from the local international airport, Holguin.

A small resort, with less than a dozen quality hotels in the area, Guardalavaca offers exceptional beaches, a quiet pace of life, and quality diving.

Our recommended 3*+ and 4* hotels here sit on the beach, just a short walk or speedboat ride away from the dive centre, Eagle Ray. Our 5* hotels are within 10 minutes of the dive centre.

Whilst this is not a big resort by any stretch, there is plenty to do – our staff in Guardalavaca can arrange anything for you from bike hire to a day trip into the local country-side, seeing authentic cigar factories, working farms and ranches, and the ‘Heart of Cuba' tour is highly recommended – particularly if horse-riding in the hills, a hog-roast, salsa dancing with the locals or driving a small speed-boat whet your appetite.

You can even go further afield if you like – Baracoa and Santiago de Cuba, and even Guantanamo Bay are within reach of a day trip – the history this part of the island offers is second to none, and it would be real shame not to see it!

Don't forget your shopping too – the best coffee, rum and cigars are sold in the boutiques within the hotels, and you can be assured of the quality! Everything else that a holiday-maker could possibly need is also available in the hotels – just ask, and you will be pointed in the right direction.

Beachside restaurants, bars and cafes are found in and close by the hotels too, and the evenings entertainment programmes vary from a traditional cabaret and stage shows to spectacular synchronised water-ballet displays from professional touring groups – you will not be disappointed.

The pool and beach scene is what you want to make of it – as active as you want with all the water sports and equipment, or as quiet as you like – huge stretches of powder soft sand provide everyone with a quiet space. The sea is calm, crystal clear and as warm as a bath, and is perfect for snorkelling, a quick dip or a more strenuous swim. The kids will love it!

Whatever you choose to do, you will absorb the spirit of Cuba – a slow and gentle rhythm of life, and it will take months to get rid of that smile of continent on your face!
