Corona cave - Guardalavaca

This dive site offers a healthy reef and coral garden at approximately 8 metres, gorges and channels in the reef edge, a tunnel through the reef edge to the wall, and a drop off down to below 50 metres in places. Something for everyone!

Ten minutes by fast boat from the beachfront puts you on top of the reef, and a descent down the anchor line puts you on top of the reef.

Alive with soft corals and plentiful marine life, the reef top is full of gorges and holes, one of which allows you to drop down through it and out into the ‘blue' on the wall at 18 metres depth.

Again you will be welcomed and accompanied by giant groupers that swim around you happily. They might even nudge your pockets, looking for a morsel of food, and will even stay still for a really good photograph too! Free swimming giant morays join the crowd, again coming up close to you, and large snappers, schools of spadefish and the smaller inhabitants of the reef wall give you plenty to look at.

Glancing up, the sun streams down through the healthy corals, and don't be surprised to see large numbers of small to sizeable sunfish too, swimming closer to the surface in their awkward manner.

The dive ends by swimming into a ‘cove' in the wall, up and over the top, and then along a sandy bottomed channel – still accompanied by the grouper – to the anchor line, with the safety stop giving you a great overhead view of the whole area.

A great dive site that offers something for everyone – depth, or shallower levels that give you plenty to enjoy, and the grouper of course! It is just like taking the dogs for a walk in the park!
