Travellers who enjoy scuba diving in the Cayman Islands will be pleased to discover that the destinations has taken first place in Scuba Diving magazine's 2011 Reader Choice Awards highlighting its diversity of dive sites.
Avid diving fans who are looking to explore new waters might want to consider scuba diving in the Cayman Islands for their next adventure trip after it received recognition at the Scuba Diving magazine's 2011 Reader's Choice Awards.
The Caribbean holiday destination was awarded first place in the overall diving experience and wall diving categories. The award highlighted the excellent quality of scuba diving in the Cayman Islands, its diversity of diving sites and thriving marine life.
Acting Director of Tourism for the Cayman Islands, Shomari Scott, said it is "an honour" for the islands to receive recognition by readers of Scuba Diving magazine.
Scott added: "The dive sector remains committed to enhancing its product and the recent sinking of the Kittiwake is one example of how joint efforts between the government and private sector can work to the benefit of our country."
The Cayman Islands is a British overseas territory situated in the west Caribbean Sea, south of Cuba and made up of three islands, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman.
Travellers on scuba diving holidays can enjoy a range of diving experiences in the Cayman Islands including exploring the underwater attraction of the former United Sates Navy submarine, the USS Kittiwake, which was recently sunken to create an artificial reef off the coast of Grand Cayman.
Grand Cayman is also home to Boatswain's Beach Marine Park and Turtle Farm where visitors can enjoy a range of conservation, educational, cultural and entertainment programmes.
The Cayman Islands are a fantastic destination for scuba diving holidays and other activities due to the seabed which falls away creating several walls located close to the shore. The colourful coral gardens are a great place for snorkelers and for the travellers who prefer to stay on dry land, there are a number of golf courses, beautiful sandy beaches and shopping activities to enjoy.
