According to figures released by popular travel comparison site Cheap Flights UK, Sharm El Sheikh is back on top as a leading destination for scuba diving holidays in the Red Sea. Despite political turmoil the resort remains a favourite for scuba divers
Even when the country has been subjected to the negative effects that the political upheaval caused earlier this year, Egypt still managed to salvage its reputation as one of the world's leading scuba diving destinations.
Despite the declining number in visitor figures, there is one niche segment of the Egypt holidays market that hasn't been affected by the unstable political environment: the scuba holidays market.
Fortunately, popular scuba diving holiday resorts like Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada haven't been affected at all by the political changes (unlike other popular cities such as Cairo and Luxor) and have been welcoming millions on tourists that come on Egypt holidays to discover the marine beauty of its undersea world.
And according to Hilton Grand Vacations, Marriott and other top hotel brands that have properties on the region, Sharm El Sheikh shows no sign of stopping its great success among worldwide travellers, and more specifically, scuba divers.
As revealed by figures released by Cheap Flights UK, Sharm El Sheikh is back on top as one of the most popular scuba diving destinations in the world, in a region that has become a firm new favourite in recent years among British holidaymakers in particular.
Famous for its stunningly colourful underwater sealife, Sharm El Sheikh’s deep sea residents include clownfish, sea eels, and blacktip reef sharks. It’s a fascinating region, steeped in history and culture, and warm winter temperatures make it a consistent draw as a top winter sunshine getaway, with warm waters and almost constant blue skies.
Other popular options to be enjoyed during holidays in Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh resort aside from scuba diving in warm exotic waters, include camel rides on the beach, desert safaris and excursions to major landmarks with a vibrant nightlife buzzing as soon as the sun goes down.
Nadine Hallak, Travel Expert for Cheap Flights UK. says: “In the current economy where budget and keeping ground costs low remain a top priority, the Red Sea is a perfect diving and holiday spot. Marine life aside, Sharm el Sheikh boasts some of the best wreck diving in the world. For example, diving the Thistlegorm, which was a military supply ship, offers the surreal experience of swimming past motorbikes, jeeps and even wellington boots that are still lined up perfectly as though they were on their way to their next port of call”
One top provider of scuba diving holidays in Egypt, Hilton Sharm Dreams Vacation Club, offers a total of 95 holiday homes from fully-equipped studios to three-bedroom villas. Exchange holidays at this resort are available through RCI Exchange, and Hilton Grand Vacations Club members can also use their ClubPoints to arrange an RCI exchange to this resort in the same manner as for any other RCI affiliated resort.
