Bollywood Pakistani actor-musician Ali Zafar recently raved about his recent scuba diving experience in Mauritius where he was shooting his latest film. The young hearthrob is the latest celebrity lured by the pristine beauty of the island's calm waters.

An accomplished young Pakistani actor who has already proven himself with his acting, singing and music composing skills, Ali Zafar has shown fans another facet of his personality, this time a little more on the adventurous side with his recent scuba diving experience in Mauritius.

While many instantly recognise him for his good looks, after becoming an overnight heartthrob with his debut film Tere Bin Laden, not many knew about his passion for water sports and his love of the sea and during his recent scuba diving adventure in Mauritius he talked about the whole experience after him and his fellow actors were given scuba diving lessons as part of the training necessary for underwater dives.

“I had lots of fun scuba diving with my friends including Divyendu (Sharma, actor) who is also in the film. We trained for 40 minutes before diving. The instructor taught us how to swim underwater and gave us loads of instructions” he explained.

The scuba diving session was not part of the shooting of his new film, a remake of Chashme Budoor, instead he made the most of his free time in between shooting scenes to indulge in his love of water sports.

While scuba diving in Mauritius, Zafarwas fascinated by what he encountered beneath the surface. “It was fascinating to see the marine varieties and get a different perspective of life on earth. The underwater life is amazing. Once you dive in, you realise how beautifully nature operates at all levels. I saw corals that looked like giant mushrooms and goby fish hiding in the sand, sea urchins and giant sooi keong. It was marvellous, seeing them so up close,” he excitedly recalls adding that upon arriving to Mauritius the sea “beckoned” him.

This latest scuba diving trip has been the most recent addition to his long list of thrilling adventures at it has also been reported that in the past Ali Zafar has also undertaken paragliding, water tube ride, pendulum ride, attempted a 160 foot free fall jump and went for a ride in the world’s second largest rollercoaster in Liverpool. Reportedly, he will only stop at sky-diving, although he is not sure if he will ever change his mind and go for it at some point in his life.

With many worldwide divers lured by its pristine, warm waters, abundant marine life and clear-visibility conditions, optimum for exploring the underwater world, it’s no wonder that scuba diving holidays in Mauritius are becoming more and more popular, with celebrities such as Ali Zafar now joining in the trend.
