Revive Your Dive event offers free refresher programme for scuba diving enthusiasts

Divers who are looking to brush up on their scuba diving skills will have the chance to receive free training and services during a one-day event this month in Fort Lauderdale in Florida. The event will enable divers to have a fitness consultation, a scuba equipment check, and a PADI Scuba Review course so they can go on to enjoy scuba diving adventures this summer.

Scuba diving can be an expensive sport so Reef Ministries in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is helping divers by offering a free one-day event where they can take advantage of free training and services.

The third annual Revive Your Dive! event will be taking place on 22nd July, 2012 and divers can prepare for their scuba diving adventures with free fitness consultations, free scuba equipment checks and a free PADI Scuba Review course.

Tec Clark, the founder and director of Reef Ministries, explained: “Divers understand the need for scuba refresher training, health screens and equipment inspections but are often reluctant to pursue them due to the high costs and time associated with doing them. Our mission through Revive Your Dive! is to reduce all the barriers, so that divers get these essential services all at one time, all at one location, and all for free.”

The event will be held at the City of Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex in Florida and participants will need to be certified divers through a national or international scuba training agency.

Sponsors of the event include Divers Alert Network (DAN), the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), and Aqua Lung plus many local dive centres and businesses who are helping divers prepare for their scuba diving adventures ahead of the Florida Lobster Mini-Season which is scheduled for 25th and 26th July, 2012.

Hundred of divers are expected to take part in the mini-season two-day event where they will hunt the ocean waters for lobsters. Once they have caught the creatures, they can take them home or have them prepared and cooked by local restaurants.

Florida is a popular destination for scuba diving holidays and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary is one of the region’s top scuba diving destinations. Home to the only coral barrier reef in North America, plus beautiful sea grass fields, colourful corals and a mangrove forest, the protected sanctuary attracts thousands of divers every year.

The marine park spans an area of 9,600 square-kilometres and is teeming with reefs that are rich in biodiversity and warm crystal clear waters.

While scuba diving in Florida, divers can swim alongside an array of magnificent marine creatures including sea urchins, barracudas, parrot fish, angel fish, stingrays, spiny lobsters, shrimp, sharks, eels, dolphins, whales, and sea turtles.
