Revamped Leisure Centres offer free scuba diving sessions

South Norwood and Thornton Heath Leisure Centres in the United Kingdom will be offering taster scuba diving lessons and activities as part of their re-launch which has involved refurbishments costing a combined 1 million pounds.
People interested in scuba diving lessons will have the chance to take part in free taster sessions and scuba diving activities at the newly opened leisure centres, South Norwood and Thornton Heath near London, UK.
The leisure centres are celebrating their combined £1 million makeover by offer free taster sessions of scuba diving activities, plus circuit training for those looking to get fit after the festive period.
Croydon Councillor and member of the council's cabinet for culture and sport, Sara Bashford, cut the ribbons at the new leisure centres last weekend. She said:
"We have leisure facilities to be proud of in the borough, and we look forward to seeing many residents enjoying the free events and taster sessions at the centres. Regardless of physical prowess or competitiveness, there's something for everyone to enjoy."
Sport and Community Development Manager, Ian Farlane, explained: "It's been a hectic few weeks for the centres as there's so much going on and the free taster sessions mean people can try things out under the guidance of one of the trained coaches, like studio pump, circuits or scuba diving."
The new facilities will enable visitors to take some scuba diving lessons before they head off on their exotic scuba diving holidays to far flung destinations. The lessons will give people the chance to learn the skills required for open water and scuba diving.
Scuba diving activities are becoming increasingly popular amongst travellers and favourite destinations include the Maldives for its sightings of tropical fish and manta rays; the Caribbean for its sea turtles, whales and colourful coral reefs; Cuba which is home to the world's second largest barrier reef; Sharm el Sheikh with its underwater caves and access to the Red Sea; Florida for its historical wreck diving sites; and Thailand and Malaysia which are both home to an array of beautiful marine species including the magnificent sharks.
